Basically, the pro-creation of man generated from its basic needs. food to eat, something to drink, something to wear and cover your body, medicine to cure sickness etc. Architecture will provide man something for shelter.
AN ARCHITECT is a person who have undergone a five year course in the study of Bachelor of Science in architecture and pass the architect board license examination. An architect with his/her associates shall interpret the clients needs into drawings and shall be built with clients approved design and specifications. The Architect shall be paid 10 percent of the total cost of the building or as per approved contract.
An Architect work with Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electronic Engineers, Master Plumber, Interior Designer, General Contractors, Sub-contractors. Of course , last but not the least, the client or the BOSS.
HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE based on the the record of man begun in the prehistoric megaliths to modernist skyscrapers. Please take note that architecture is a fluid art. Architectural styles do not start and stop at definite period of time. Did you notice Roman buildings has large and plenty of columns? Normally because post tensioning is not available that time. Glass and light steel materials are commonly used in skyscrapers in the modern times because of the new discovery and availability of new materials. THE EVOLUTION OF ARCHITECTURE basically evolves with the rapid growth of human population and the need of man to build for a specific purpose or function. It also evolves with the availability of new materials found to be more economical , practical and functional.
DESIGN CONCEPTS is the Architects approach of his design. Basically the concept of design still depends on its needs and function. It is wrong to design a house as large as a mall or a hotel that as open as a gymnasium. The architects design should always meet the clients or occupants needs. In designing spaces always put yourself in the users shoes. And ask yourself am I comfortable this way? Think about it.
ARCHITECT’S ATTITUDE
In my practice in architecture, I have already the idea the standard dimensions of fixtures and furnitures at school. I thought thats all enough. But during my first job in my practice at Roestgen Construction. I always have this blue log book with me when I accompany Richard Stolsman, an American citizen having built his private beach resort at Cordova,Cebu. I always take note all he wants for his room. Everything must be based from his own anatomy. I notice he likes what I did. He waits for me after work and drive me home with his pajero. Later on offered me to study in the US. Unfortunately, my mother did not allow me to go. Grabbing an opportunity must be one of architects attitude. Once it comes you’ll never know if opportunity returns.
