San Carlos is situated in the heart of the Visayan Islands, in the central Philippines close to the main sea lanes of Southeast Asia. At the crossroads of four major cities and provinces with a population of about eight million, it is close to the domestic and international trading and communication links to Cebu City.
San Carlos City, one of the thirteen cities in Negros , lies at the northeastern part of Negros Island. It is bounded in the north by the town of Calatrava, on the west by the town of Salvador Benedicto and the ity of Bago, on the south by the town of Vallehermoso and the City of Canlaon both of negros Oriental, and on the east by Tanon Strait.
Its ideal geographical location and financial stability has made San Carlos City the center of the Panay-Negros-Cebu economic zone. Its agro-industrial economy is centered on trade and industry that takes advantage of its vast and fertile agricultural land which comprise sixty-six percent of the city’s land area of 45,150 hectares. Large tracks of agricultural land which are easily accessible through well-developed mountain roads are planted to staple crops like rice and corn, and high-value crops like cabbage, carrots,soy beans and coffee. Sugar plantations have given way to real estate development.for residential, commercial and industrial enterprises.
